The beautiful, whimsical painting of uke players you see adorning the literature about Under the Boardwalk, A Ukulele Love Story is the work of Donna Thomas. It was Donna and Peter (seen in the previous blog on the harmonica) Thomas who opened their house to the first Uke parties in Santa Cruz. And 
it was those parties that evolved into the current day Ukulele Club.
Peter and Donna are Book Artists. The painting is a photo of some of the pages from one of their accordian style books. They have a collection of 25 Ukulele books, books made about and from Ukuleles. And although they are books, they have text, they all still play as ukuleles.
Donna and Peter are currently traversing the country with their Gypsy Caravan Wagon Bookmobile, meeting other bookmakers and conducting book arts workshops.
